Kitchen with shaker cabinets painted sage green and brass handles, worktops masked with blue tape and doors drying on trestles

The kitchen, and the units around the house

A new colour on the units you already have, painted by hand or sprayed. We paint:

Full run of kitchen units painted sage green with brass bar handles, worktops masked and doors drying on trestles
  • Kitchen cabinet doors
  • Drawer fronts
  • End panels and plinths
  • Kitchen islands
  • Built-in units and shelving
  • Fitted wardrobes

Kitchen paint has to stick

Cabinets get handled every day and kitchens get grease in the air. Paint on a dirty or shiny surface chips. Before any finish coat goes on we:

Some foil-wrapped or damaged doors are not suitable for painting. If yours are not, we will say so at quote stage.

Cabinet door freshly painted navy resting on padded trestles, with its hinges bagged and labelled beside it
  • Take off doors, drawer fronts and hinges
  • Label each door and its hinges so everything goes back where it came from
  • Mask worktops, appliances, walls and floors
  • Degrease every surface to be painted
  • Lightly sand or key the surface so the primer can grip
  • Fill dents and chips
  • Prime with an adhesion primer suited to the surface: wood, MDF, or laminate and foil where suitable
  • Finish with durable coats made for cabinets and woodwork

Questions about kitchen cabinet painting

How long does it take?

It depends on the number of doors and drawer fronts, the surface and how much prep they need. You get a timeline with the written quote.

Can I use the kitchen during the job?

Partly. While doors are off the cupboards are open and some areas are masked, but you can usually still get at the sink and fridge. We tell you which days are most disruptive when we agree the date.

Can you paint laminate or foil doors?

Some, yes, with the right adhesion primer. Foil that is lifting, peeling or damaged is not suitable, and we will tell you at quote stage if your doors are in that group. A close-up photo of the surface helps.

Can you match a colour I have picked?

Yes. Give us the colour name and brand, or a sample, and we use that. If you ask us to supply the paint it goes on the quote as its own line.

Do you change handles?

Yes. We can fit new handles you supply when the doors go back on. If the new handles use different hole spacing, tell us at quote stage so the filling and drilling is included.
