Exterior Painting, Cork

Masonry, render and outside woodwork, washed and prepared before any paint goes on. A written price before we start.

Semi-detached house with freshly painted off-white render, dark grey front door and white fascia

The outside of the house

Front, back and gables, or just the bit that faces the road. We paint:

  • Masonry, render and pebble dash
  • Fascia, soffit and bargeboards
  • Front and back doors
  • Window frames and sills
  • Garden walls, gates and railings
  • Sheds and garage doors

Clean, dry and sound before it is painted

Outside paint fails when it goes onto dirt, damp or loose material. Before the first coat we:

Window sill with flaking paint and scuffed render beside it, the kind of surface that is scraped, filled and primed before repainting

Flaking sills and scuffed render like this are scraped, filled and primed before any top coat goes on.

  • Power wash or scrub the walls and let them dry
  • Treat algae and mould where it is present
  • Scrape and sand loose or flaking paint
  • Fill cracks and patch small areas of damaged render
  • Prime bare patches and sound rust on metalwork
  • Mask windows, doors, lights and paths
  • Check the weather forecast before starting masonry coats

Questions about exterior painting

How long does the outside of a house take?

A typical semi-detached house is usually two to four days of painting, depending on the size, the condition of the walls and the weather. We give you a day count with the written price.

What about the weather?

Masonry paint needs dry surfaces and a dry spell to cure. If rain comes in we stop and come back. Exterior dates are always subject to weather and we keep you posted.

Is paint included in the price?

Either way. We can supply the masonry and trim paint and show it as its own line on the quote, or you buy it and we paint with it.

Can you match the existing colour?

Usually, yes. If you know the colour name or have the tin we use that. If not, a paint supplier can match a sample. Weathered paint fades, so a full repaint in the matched colour will look fresher than the old finish.

Do you work weekends?

Ask when you request a quote and we will tell you what is possible for your dates.
